A South Bay native, Dave Pierce grew up in a family of musicians. With roots in Oaklahoma, his family was steeped in Southern Gospel music, and in both kinds of secular music -- Country and Western.
Family gatherings always ended around the piano, with guitars, harmonicas, auto harps, and any other instruments near hand. Everyone sang, and harmonies came naturally. Dave began learning to play
the piano from his mother, a Southern gospel pianist when he was just 3 years old.

Throughout his childhood he played piano, guitar, trumpet and other brass instruments. As a teenager he settled on keyboards as his main instrument, playing organ in the church band. In the 80's he discovered that his keyboard skills could be transferred to Rock and Pop and played gigs all over the Bay Area with his all-original hard rock band 33 onxy as well as a top 40 cover band. After taking a few years away from live music to focus on a career in
information technology. He has now returned to play with vengeance playing nearly 300 gigs
in the last seven years.
Dave had many other musical adventures around the Bay Area before joining Zebop. Including two years in the keyboard chair in the house band for the Sunday Night invitational jam at JJ's Blues House in San Jose. He continues to study music and keyboards, currently studying montunos
and Latin rhythms with Bay Areas songwriter and pianist Michelle Pollace. Dave is an asset to Zebop and enjoys playing the music of Santana. Because of the music it lets so many of his
influences come out -- rock, blues, jazz and R&B and its all infused with wonderful Latin and African rhythms.
